I am From

I am from the cold and rocky waters of British Columbia.

I am from the cherry blossom tree in my front yard blossoming in the spring ,and walking along the path in the forest.

I am from Popo (grandma) gongon (grandpa) and grandma and grandpa.

I am from my Mom ,dad and big brother James.

I am from "You will find it when you are not looking for it."

I am from the calm and peacful waters of Comox.

I am from the Ngs and Parkers.

I am from this world.

I am from my world.

  3. A really nice poem Lauren. Like Aurelle, I really respond to that first line. It's simple but it is evocative of so many personal experiences. I'm also curious to know the story behind the quote, "you will find it when you are not looking for it." So true!

If you were to do a revision of this poem, I would like you to include your thoughts and feelings about the ideas and images you have included. What do these cold and rocky shores mean to you? What emotions do they evoke? What memories, feelings and images are connected to your experiences with your grandparents? When I think about my grandmother (Noni) for example, I am immediately reminded of the smell of her moisturizer, a lovely coconut scent. Whenever I come across this smell, she comes to the forefront of my mind. Perhaps you have similar connections?

    Nice work!
