The Fight to Canada
“Mommy, where are we going?” I asked. “Just into
Town,” she said. When I was little, I never knew what
“WAR” was. I loved to read books; I didn’t care what type of what I read, as long as I read it. Until one day I finally found a book about war it was called WW1 and WW2. I never knew what it standed for, I just knew when I saw some of the pages it involved a lot of guns. After I finished the book, I figured it out, we were going into war, and nobody could stop it only our army.
My mom told me we were moving out, but I sincerely doubt it, she just tried not to make me scared. I remember reading a sentence it said “Serbia started World War 1”.
I never believed it, and it wasn’t true also. “That’s a lie son, we never started it was Germany.
Another sentence said that over 70% of the people in Serbia die because of war. I was wondering if I was one of those 70% people or my whole family. My body shivered I usually don’t know this much, but I figured it out. I loved my family, and I would do anything not to lose them
Part 2 The Final Day
Today it all started, my dad turned on the car. “Were getting ready, load the packages and the luggage,” my dad said.” We started the car, and we went, when it was about 4:00 in the morning, my dad turned on the radio and checked if there was any news about our country getting war, but their was nothing yet.
When we finally came to a different town, my mom and dad realized that that's where our grandparents lived. So my dad picked up my grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles but one uncle didn’t want to go, he said he’s lived here all his live, and he’s not moving one step. From that point, I never saw him again.
Then after my dad picked up my grandparent’s, cousins, aunts and uncles, we drove at 5:00 in the morning hoping tanks wouldn’t detect us, for me and my family, it was scary, for me I didn’t know what tanks did in that time, so I wasn’t as scared as my family was. We finally landed in a place called the “Kotor” I realized that’s where I was born, so I loved the place.
Everyone was talking, playing, and having fun like nothing was in their way every time I was at some place I like I always started giggling since I was only a baby. The funny thing was, no one ever knew that the war was about to go on. My mom and dad ran to the airport so they can get tickets for me my mom my dad and my brother.
My brother understands this more then me, because he’s been through more than I have.
I decided to stay calm and not to worry, but it didn’t work that good. When we finally went to Canada, I knew it would be a long time to learn English and make friends, but at least I didn’t have a chance of dieing.
