I am from the great waters of Croatia.
The hot, hot sun that shines over the country.
The beautiful sunset that I hope to call home one day.
I am from grocery stores, Christmas lights, flowers and trees.
I am from Palachinke (crapes), chavipchichi (sausages), soup and pizza.
The fantastic smell of my baka and dida (grandparents) cooking dinner.
I am from Tetka Stana, Tetka Kata, Tetka Ljubica and Tetka Rajka.
I am from Baka, Dida, Mom and Dad. The best family ever!
I am from the big city of New York, the cold snow of Connecticut and beautiful Los Angeles.
I am from dirt biking, rock climbing, gymnastics, swimming and house boating.
I am from the Aussem Family!

ReplyDeletethanks :D
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Nikolette. I love the sound of the Croatian words in the poem. They create a poetry of their own, and add a certain sense of mystery.
ReplyDeleteIn future poems, focus on the rule of "thoughts and feelings" and concentrate on including your own reflections and feelings about the images and ideas that you include. This is great start!
